Frequently asked questions

The Jeugddeelnamefonds Alphen provides financial support for membership or tuition fees for cultural and sports activities for children aged 4 to 18 from families with limited means. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop their interests and talents, make new friends, and stay active and healthy. Our financial contribution helps as many children as possible to become members of a participating club, association or cultural institution.

The JDFA provides a contribution sufficient to cover membership or tuition fees. Therefore, an additional personal contribution is generally not required. However, fitness and horse riding are excluded due to high costs and not meeting our objectives of team participation and developing social skills. For swimming lessons, different arrangements apply per swimming pool, but our contribution is generally sufficient.

Children aged 4 to 18 residing in Alphen aan den Rijn, Zwammerdam, Aarlanderveen, Boskoop, Benthuizen, Koudekerk aan den Rijn, Hazerswoude-Dorp and Hazerswoude-Rijndijk are eligible. Children from families on social benefits, in debt restructuring or with low household incomes fall within the target group. We use a standard of 120% of the social benefit level. Activities must be “organised sports” or cultural activities at a recognised institution. We prefer group or team activities to support children’s development, though some cultural activities, like music lessons, may combine private lessons with group participation. Those activities are also eligible.

Contributions run concurrently with the membership year of the association or institution. A new application is required for membership renewals or additional activities. We believe it’s important for children to have the opportunity to swim and engage in sports. Therefore, it is possible to request funding for an additional activity alongside swimming. However, you cannot apply for funding for another activity in addition to a sports or cultural activity—this rule only applies to swimming.

Yes, if the rules of the respective sports association or cultural institution are not followed, the contribution may be withdrawn. After payment, we expect your child to participate and adhere to the rules of the club, association or cultural institution.

No, the amount granted cannot be used for outstanding bills or past debts. Retroactive payments are also not permitted. Sportswear can be obtained through the clothing fund. For conditions, visit theKledingbank Groene Hart – Alphen aan den Rijn (kledingbank-groenehart.nl).

The JDFA is a private foundation. Thanks to an annual contribution from the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn and donations from individuals and businesses, we are able to cover many tuition and membership fees for children. However, to meet all requests, we need more sponsors. Would you like to contribute to the JDFA? Donations are always welcome!
